Valentin Bartes is a graduate of the Romanian National Ballet School in Cluj-Napoca in 1993.
His main teacher was his father, Emilian Bartes, principal dancer of Romanian National Theater of Cluj-Napoca. While still a student, Mr. Bartes had received four Gold Medals at the Romanian National Ballet Competition.
Upon graduation in 1993, Valentin joined Romanian National Theater of Cluj-Napoca as a soloist. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Bartes danced as a soloist with the Croatian National Ballet Theatre in Zagreb, and also performed in Croatian National Ballet Theatre in Spilt.
In 1995 Valentin received Award of the Year for the role of Nurali in the production of The Fountain of Bakhchisaray at the Croatian National Ballet Theater in Split. During the years 1992-98 Mr. Bartes performed as a guest artist with the Westchester Ballet Company in New York, USA in its annual productions of The Nutcracker.
In 1996, Mr. Bartes moved to Japan and embarked on a career as an Independent Artist and Choreographer. His repertoire includes leading roles in ballets such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, La Fille Mal Gardée, Coppelia, Raymonda, Cinderella, Paquita, Walpurgis Night, Carmen, The Nutcracker, The Fountain of Bakhchisaray, Requiem, Sylvia, La Sylphide, La Esmeralda, Les Patineurs, and many others. In 1999, he received Silver Medal in the Pas de deux Category at Tokyo Shimbun Ballet Competition.
In 2005, Valentin Bartes founded Valentino Dance Center in Tokyo, Japan, an association of professional dancers that offers classes, workshops, and quality dance performances both in Japan and abroad. Among the productions, he has choreographed and produced are The Fountain of Bakhchisaray, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Fille Mal Gardée, Walpurgis Night, Gypsy Suite, Carmen, La Bayadere, Don Quixote, Requiem, The Sleeping Beauty, Raymonda, Coppelia, Romanian Rhapsody, Giselle, Polovetsian Dance.
In 2009 Mr. Bartes was appointed Ballet Master and Resident Choreographer of Sibiu Ballet Theatre in Sibiu, Romania. Where he choreographed, and produced numerous productions with a great success.
Many other projects and positions Mr. Bartes held in the past decade are Co-Founder and Choreographer at Interdanza-Giappone Ballet Project in Livorno, Italy,International Youth Ballet Festival Sicily ,Grand Caribbean Ballet Festival,Mexico, International Ballet & Contemporary Dance Festival ,New-Delhi,India, Permanent Jury Member and Master Teacher at Passion du Ballet a Kyoto Competition in Kyoto, Japan, Founder and Artistic Director of International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition Domenico Modugno and International Ballet Seminar in Bari, Italy.
Mr. Bartes most recent achievements include Choreographer at Vakhtang Chabukiani Tbilisi Ballet Art State School production of Sleeping Beauty and guest Ballet Master at State Ballet of Georgia in Tbilisi during 2016. Also, he was a guest Ballet Master and Choreographer at Cairo Opera House, Egypt for the production of Coppelia and Gala Performance which include staging of Polovetsian Dances and Samson and Delilah for the company 2015-16 season. Mr. Bartes also was a guest Ballet Master at Ballet de Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico during the 2016-17 season. Additionally, in 2017, he choreographed at Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Russia production of Coppelia.
In 2018 guest choreographer at Cairo Opera House, Egypt for the production of “La Bayadere” and guest Ballet Master at Vietnam National Opera and Ballet in Hanoi.
Besides choreographing and teaching all over the world, Valentin Bartes is currently the President of Bell Art Cultural Association.
